Anteros, with Eros, was one of a host of winged love gods, usually depicted as winged boys in the company of Aphrodite or her attendant goddesses. Anteros, mistakenly called Eros, was the god of requited love, literally "love returned" or "counter-love" and the punisher of those who scorn love and the advances of others!

'Eros' was the first sculpture in the world to be cast in aluminium and is set on a bronze fountain, now residing at Piccadilly Circus at the end of Shaftesbury Avenue in London. It was famously repaired and cleaned in the workshop of A B Burton, here in Thames Ditton before being returned to Piccadilly Circus in 1931. Sir Alfred Gilbert's famous sculpture was also re-created for the City of Liverpool and was made here in Thames Ditton.
