Thames Ditton Pink GIN

Thames Ditton PINK GIN

Our Pink gin is made adding musk strawberry and pink grapefruit botanicals to our Original traditional London Dry Style gin. It’s a smooth summer drink for a discerning palate. If you like sweet pink gins then this isn;t for you. If, however, you like the merest hint of sweetness on the front note from strawberry followed by the kindest cut through of pink grapefruit on the back note, then this is the pink gin for you!

Inspired by Hampton Court Kitchen Garden, where they still grow musk strawberry we’ve added pink grapefruit with a hint of sweet maudlin (yes, we had to look it up too).

MUSK STRAWBERRY

The musk strawberry or hautbois strawberry, is a species of strawberry native to Europe. Its French name hautbois strawberry may be anglicised as hautboy strawberry. The plants are hardy and can survive in many weather conditions and are cultivated commercially on a small scale. They are still grown in Hampton Court Palace Kitchen Garden.

PINK GRAPEFRUIT

A subtropical citrus fruit known for its relatively large sour to semi-sweet, somewhat bitter fruit. Grapefruit is a citrus hybrid originating in Barbados as an accidental cross between two introduced species – sweet orange and pomelo - both of which were introduced from Asia in the seventeenth century. A fitting compliment to the blood orange in Thames Ditton original gin.

SWEET Maudlin

Also known as sweet yarrow sweet Nancy or English mace, Sweet Maudlin is a flowering plant from the sunflower family, native to southern Europe. It is cultivated in many places for its pleasant fragrance. Also grown locally at the Palace Kitchen Garden it is a fitting addition to our botanical mix.

This is the first gin where it has some clean interesting botanicals. I like the citrus notes very clean but they add a perfect balance and cuts through the alcohol and leaves a nice long lasting refreshing drink. Excellent work and for my money one of the best gins that money can buy.
