Sustainability
Our philosophy and approach at Thames Ditton Gin is to use sustainable and efficient business practices wherever we can. This covers our use of paper and cardboard plus other recyclable alternatives to plastic wherever we can. From our tote bags to our packaging and everything in between.
SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
We have sourced alternative solutions to plastic packaging and currently use two packaging options:
Pulpsafe Branded Box
Our outer branded boxes have a high recycled content, they are 100% recyclable and created sustainably. This eco-friendly pulp packaging box is designed for safe transit. Pulpsafe offers the drinks trade the very highest level of protection for shipping bottles with the greenest possible eco credentials. It isn’t just plastic-free. It's recyclable, compostable and biodegradable, and it’s made right here in the UK. Made from water and paper; most often cardboard, newspaper or a combination of the two. When it’s mixed together, it forms a sloppy mixture that can be shaped, pressed and dried. The great thing about moulded pulp packaging, is that it’s eco transit packaging for wine made from recycled raw materials. It gives a new life to surplus paper but also reduces the amount of virgin paper used to zero.
UPS approved Postal Box
High recyclability.
Packaging tape
Our boxes are sealed with a plain kraft tape, which is fully recyclable making it a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic tapes.
Bottle Refill Scheme
Our bottle refill scheme launched in March 2020 at the beginning of the COVID Lockdown. It has proven extremely popular with our local customers. It provides a much better solution to recycling and offers an incentive for customers to be rewarded when they participate in the scheme. Customers can simply return an empty bottle of Thames Ditton Gin Original to one of our Pop Up Shop, in Thames Ditton and we'll refill it.
Bottles must be returned and exchanged at the onsite pop up shop during shop opening times.
Returned bottles must be undamaged. Sorry, customers cannot return empty bottles via post or at one of our events/markets.
Upcycling
We also accept returned empty Thames Ditton Gin bottles at some of our promoted events. We use these to upcycle in to new products supporting other businesses where we can. Our Thames Ditton Gin bottles are used to create beautiful candles and lights
That’s just the beginning… we will continue to operate sustainably , keeping the environment at the forefront of our customer and creative journey.
